I often know my title… but more importantly, in many cases, that title encompasses the metaphor I intend to use to carry the lyrics, the “theme”, the reason for the song.
I have an idea section in “notes” where i keep metaphorical ideas - themes - whenever it pops during the day OR when i have a song lyric theme in mind, i look for the metaphor. Ex: If i want to talk about savings - my mind goes to a squirrel stuffing nuts away… or on my last “cheese dance” release … The metaphor (cheese) carries the idea that i love it - but don’t want to miss on life (aging on a shelve) like one. … Also, sometimes, i just wake up to the next idea in the middle of the night. I call it “Nightbird whispers”. From there, i hum the idea in the memo app. It often sounds awfully charming in the morning 🤣😳🤭

I love that Louise, and that’s one of the best ways to begin a song. Do you keep a list of titles so you can always start with inspiration like this?
